COUNSELLING

Parent counselling plays a very important role in special education. The parents are called for individual counselling, as the principal Mrs.Visalakshi Rajagopal is a qualified counsellor authorised by Rehabilitation Council of India.

COMPUTER EDUCATION

The children are offered education through computer. The computer, is also used as a tool for recreation especially games and they learn different operations.

INTEGRATED EDUCATION

	The students are integrated with the children of normal intelligence.
	Those who are scholastically backward due to specific learning disabilities, emotional problems or other traumatic situation are also counselled and educated according to their needs.
	The students are integrated for academic areas depending on their ability in the Matriculation School/State Board syllabus.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OPEN SCHOOLING – X & XII STD

The students who have completed 15 years and introduced to academics appear for the Govt. of India Sponsored National Institute of Open Schooling Examination equal to school final. This system allows the Slow Learners/Mentally Challenged students to clear one or two subjects only at a time. It is proved quite beneficial to these children as the system permits them to study and achieve at their own pace. Thus these children have an opportunity to join the mainstream of the society.

SPECIAL EDUCATION

The students are grouped into different categories, Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary and Pre-Vocational. As the curriculum is totally function-oriented and the activities are tested for age appropriateness it is easy to select objectives and teach the children. Yogasana is also a part of the curriculum. Dance and music are used as a therapy for these children. They have come out with many prizes at national level. They are also trained in drawing, painting and to prepare greeting cards and other art materials.

PHYSIOTHERAPY

Physical Rehabilitation by means of physiotherapy is given to our children in individual and group manner. According to their disabilities individual and specialized exercise programme is being designed and performed. By this we are improving the balance, muscle power tone, stamina, Co-ordination, Gait training and postural abnormalities.

The physiotherapy unit is functioning in full swing with all the necessary equipment.

OCCUPATION THERAPY

Through occupational therapy evaluation of Gross & Fine Motor skills, perceptual motor skills, activities of daily living and personal, social and communication skills are improved. As a corrective measure, the training and therapy are given to make them independent.Depending upon their skills vocational training is given.

VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS

Our students art work are being regularly selected at National Level by Very Special Arts India and their works have been printed in Greeting cards which are sold both in India and abroad.

PLACEMENT

We have a follow-up of these children and happy to record that our old students are assisting in their family business, in their farms and in different factories. A few mentally retarded adults are given jobs in our school in different departments working with physically handicapped adults with normal intelligence.

GAMES

Physical training and games are given importance and the students are continuously trained for events in and outside Coimbatore. Our students participate in Special Olympics and bag number of Gold , Silver , Bronze medals in State, National and International levels, regularly.

Our Oppurtunity cricket team players M.Shanmugam K.RamKumar have won the Gold Medal in the Asia Pacific International cricket Tournament in December 2004 at Ahmedabad.

Our Physical Director Mr.P. Murugavel accompanied them as State 's Cricket Coach to represent Tamilnadu.
